As of today, I'm getting a spurious popup every time I load a new song. Here's one as an example -- it doesn't appear until I try to play the song, and then it pops up and reads:
Warning. Your current drum kit has no bass drum note assigned.
So, I click on OK or the X, and then I get another one, this time warning me that no snare is assigned. So I click on OK or the X, and I get another one, telling me no closed high hat has been assigned. So I click on OK or the X, and I get another one, telling me that no open high hat has been assigned. So I click on OK or the X, and finally, I'm done with the error messages.
It doesn't matter if I'm using MIDI drums or RT drums -- either way, I get the popup. But here's the kicker -- the drum track plays normally, including the bass drum, snare and high hat.
This began today. Now, I don't think I changed anything, but I accidentally might have. And if I did, I haven't the slightest idea where to look. I tried clicking on the drum icons on the screen. That didn't do any good. There's a drum kit button in the Preferences section. I checked it out. All drums had zeros, so I just left it alone.
This amounts to a minor annoyance. Once I click through all four popups, they're gone for the session. Still, I'd like to get rid of the verklempte thing.
Thanks for the suggestion, but that didn't work. In fact, I had to restore to my previous settings because I was left with a distorted mess after restoring to factory settings for some strange reason. Maybe because it was trying to load something other than my audio interface for audio? I dunno. All I know is, while the popups never went away, at least I have a distortion free playback now.
This issue can probably be resolved by resetting your drum kit.
Try these steps: 1: Go to Options > Midi/Audio driver setup. 2: Change the "Synthesizer/Soundcard" option from General MIDI Instrument Misc to any other option in the list. 3: Press OK and select "Yes" to the message that appears. 4: Then go back into Options > Midi/Audio driver setup. 5: Change the "Synthesizer/Soundcard" option back to General MIDI Instrument Misc. 6: Press OK and click "Yes" to the message that appears which we reinstall the patch.
BIAB & RB2026 Win.(Audiophile), Windows 10 Pro & Windows 11, Cakewalk Bandlab, Izotope Prod.Bundle, Roland RD-1000, Synthogy Ivory, Session Keys Grand S & Electric R, Kontakt, Focusrite 18i20, KetronSD2, NS40M, Pioneer Active Monitors.
Thanks for that information, but I'm not so sure I want to follow all of it. I already have Cakewalk TTS-1 set as my "synth/soundcard." It works fine like this, and I prefer the sounds I get from TTS-1 anyway. So, why would I want to change back from it to General MIDI Misc?
As I mentioned in my opening message, this problem appeared out of the blue this morning. And it also happens with RT Drums, not just MIDI.

The method I suggested will only reset the drum kit patch within BiaB, nowhere else. It essentially forces BiaB to reload the correct patch/drum note assignments, as some of your assignments have 'gone missing'.
Also, this is not the first time this issue has been noticed. It has happened to others as well.

The method that AudioTrack posted is the one that we recommend to customers. By switching the Synthesizer/Soundcard then changing it back to General MIDI Instrument Misc it will reset your Drum Kit and prevent that message from popping up. There is no harm in doing this.
Well, it worked. I installed the General MIDI driver, then checked to see if the popus were still happening. They weren't. So I switched back to Cakewalk TTS-1. So far, the popups are still gone. So, problem solved.
So, when can we expect the PG crew to deal with this annoying bug?
