Sounds like a spoof/phishing site. There are sites that spoof like they are legit. I doubt that you were on the M-Audio site. It was likely a site that showed up in the M-Audio manual search. I get the same thing when I need to look for service manuals for the security panels I work on. Everybody and their brother has a site for the manuals. BUT... the one I trust is the Honeywell site. Gotta be careful.

To the warning. It too was likely a spoof. What it would have done is loaded a looper. Something that takes over the OS and keeps you stuck in a harmless but frustrating loop. It would then show you a message that gives you a number to call to "fix" the issue. Of course, they want control of the computer and a credit card number. NO telling what havoc would then ensue.

In the past, both my wife and daughters have gotten stuck in a looper. They are relatively easy to remove but can certainly cause frustration. Often.... shutting off the computer immediately solves the issue and doesn't let the looper in. It's when you start clicking on things that you get problems.

Pull the plug out of the wall and reboot..... see what you got.

Running good malware is important. BTW.... 100% MalwareBytes it's what I would use to get rid of the loopers.
