I loved the Beatles as a whole. Didn't care too much for them separately although they had a good song or two.

A favorite story.... I never thought George was that great a guitar player but, to me, his leads were so original. We used to say, "man, he's so original" when listening to songs such as 'Michelle.'

My assumptions were shot down when I read that while recording Michelle, they were trying to come up with a lead and George Martin suggested the lead for it. Oh, no! George also played the lead for 'In my life.' And many more.

IMO, he should of had songwriting credits for the work he did. Sort of like 'Whiter Shade of Pale.' That song would not be the song without the lead and the organist was not given songwriting credit. He took the writer to court for credit/royalties and didn't get it. Then went back to court and did get it. I haven't heard the latest. There's more to a song than lyrics/melody and without the musicians contributing all those 'hot licks/riffs' the song, by itself, don't make it.
