This may be a stupid question (I'm known for them). But let's say the last chord entered was a "B" and you want to enter an "Ab" that's up almost an octave, not down a half step.
I don't think that I've come across a need to do this until now, but I haven't found an answer.
That is really a good question and is at the core of making music. The fact that this is new for you is an indication of musical growth. Thats good news.
Chord designations such as CMay7 or Bbminor do not specify the "chord voicing" nor the selection of pitch. As great as Real tracks are, you can not specify chord voicing when using RTs other then to use slash chords to emphasize a bass note or select specific styles or artists who play in a selected manner. Thats the bad news.
But there is more good news. You have full control over the chord voiceing (how and where the chord is played on the instrument) with MIDI. This permits you to place the notes anywhere on the staff or on the instrument and easily put your Bb up an octave.
I had the exact same question some years ago. I made the decision to embrace MIDI and have never looked back. By the way, I found Scaler and excellent aid in writing and understanding chordal voicings.
Make a MIDI chord in the register you want, in a separate Utility Track, and play that along with your RealTrack chord. It will be very hard to tell you are listening to any MIDI if you get the patch and volume right.
Also experiment with Playable Real Tracks, which is much the same idea. This requires BIAB 2022 for Windows.

Depending on which RealTracks you are currently using, you could utilize the Playable RealTracks feature available in Band-in-a-Box 2022 to create the chord voicing you want. Here is a video that demonstrates it:
