The OP could try freezing all the tracks except drums, then put a shot on the drum track. I think that may be the only way at present to approach what is desired. Would still change the pattern, rather than accent it as played. So I say rather than wreck your brains to come up with some 'clever workarounds' (which then never quite cut it), you could simply provide support for the request itself, you know 
Just because you can, doesn't mean you should!
