For most pro audio recording applications, ASIO is the preferred driver format to use, particularly when using an audio interface. Windows audio driver (MME, WDM, WASAPI) is perfectly fine in cases where you're gaming, streaming music or movies, or making video calls.

Today I tried Asio again, BB didn't crash, however I have no sound when trying to demo anything and all I get is 'Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file'. WMP is set as default media player, I've re-installed it as advised, so my conclusion is it's the Media player.


Mal, for undertaking the process of elimination, try using a different media player that Windows Media Player.
VLC Media Player or Audacity come to mind.
