Why is it that PTPA 12 (and prior) I could direct where to have “PowerTracks DirectX Plugins” installed and now with 2010 it gives me no choice and forces it onto my C drive ( and before anyone jumps in here: SPACE on my C drive is NOT the issue – it’s control over where I want stuff for OTHER reasons)
They worked fine on my D drive before -that’s where I had them and that’s where I would really like them. Why is this now forced onto C: during installation?
Had this same question not too long ago over at Cakewalk on Sonar with its installation – Sonar install does ask where to install - then installs the BULK of files onto the C drive anyway – it’s actually starting to hack me off thinking about it again.

My guess would be because they are DXi and register with the OS, so the safe path is C:
Otherwise they may get lost and cause crashing, etc.
There is a separate PGPlugins executable, so you can install them on whatever system you need them on.
Not the answer you want, I know.

I suspect it's because they tried to make the installation easy for the other 98% that don't care where it goes. But yes, I remember when the installation would pause and ask you where you wanted to install it. So maybe they should either ask up front or go back to the old way. Of course, they could pre-populate with the defaults and you would only have to change it if you needed to. As RHarv said, send support an email.

Hello Larry,
Uninstall the DirectX plugins (from the Windows control panel or by clicking the uninstall.exe in the plugins folder). Then, install the plugins using the file pgdx_plug_2_0_0.exe in the pt folder. This will let you choose the location.
