I did a double take when I read "conjugal visits". The term conjugal does refer to married folk but has a particular meaning when tied with "visit".
I NEEDED to listen to your song to get that out of my head.
The narrative - a more direct acknowledgement that there's no winning - is a good one.

good tune tho !! you would have to tempo it up !!seems your vocals are too slow too match the tempo of the song !!, both are dragging !.
This would be a better song /listen, if you redone the tempo and re sung it at the newer father tempo !!

This has a George Harrison feel to it and that is so good.
As others have mentioned both the melody and progression are awesome.
Your vocal sounds rich and powerful and the band is top notch.
You topped it all off with an outstanding mix. Nothing to add and nothing to take away.

Yeah, those chord changes married to that melody—really easy on the ear. The backing instrumentation (Symphonic Elements?) really work well here and give that chorus rich depth. Vocal is compelling. Sweet tune!
