Excellent, you found a workaround. Welcome to the club. Unfortuantley, that means simply not using the BIAB-VST!  I stand by what I had said, the BIAB-VST over the years has changed in its operation. So the version you are using is important in regards to being compatible with any of the F5 features, including changing a style, in BIAB.
