Josie gave an excellent answer. In case you haven't picked this up, the part markers she mentions are blue for A (single click on a bar) and green for B (double-click). They do not have to be at 'normal' measures like 9 or 17. If there is one where you do not want a fill, click on it unttil it changes color then disappears.
Just to understand your question further, are you saying that your song's phrases are not 8 or 16 bars long?

The XPro & Xtra Styles PAKs are not included in any Band-in-a-Box® package.
