Timbres of Heaven is a great sounding soundfont but the instrument patches are Roland GS compatible. According to the Timbres of Heaven +++ webpage +++
Quote:
Timbres Of Heaven is Roland GS compatible. This means that there are many more instruments available than a standard GM set. In this version of Timbres, Don has about 259 instruments and sound effects available plus about 25 drum and SFX kits.
.

Band-in-a-Box is GM compatible by default. When PG Music first distributed Synthfont64 a GM compatible synthfont was included and Synthfont64 was modified to load the GM compatible synthfont.

Band-in-a-Box does have some GS compatible MIDI settings. I'm showing one in the screen shot below but there are others you may want to try.

You also mentioned mixer volume settings. Mixer volume settings are normally stored in song SGU or MGU files. There has been at least one post where a user reported the mixer settings feature is not working. I'm reasonably sure the issue was confirmed and PG Music responded a fix will be available in a future update.

Song files with melodies are normally stored as MGU files instead of the more common SGU file. Make sure you are saving melody songs as MGU file.

One other thought, since Timbres of Heaven is such a popular synthfont you may want to support a wishlist request to add Timbres of Heaven to the list of Synthesizers and sound cards PG Music supports.

I've added a wishlist request +++ HERE +++
