J n’ B.
Thanks for listening and commenting re more use of clarinet in the song.
Great idea, and believe it or not i DID attempt to use the clarinet in various other parts of the song. But after many many attempts and re-gens i couldnt get it to fit ‘in the pocket’ or get the ‘sound picture’ i wanted …in fact fyi i lucked out after many attempts to finally get the clarinet working way i wanted on the outro.
Kudos to you. Happiness and the very best regards to you and Janice.

Greg.
Thanks for listening and your nice comments. I hope you find the following useful…apologies if you dont.(i'm a tad short of time today due to family stuff.)
Re your ‘chain' question…actually there is a hilarious background to how i did vocs on this song .. In summary my enjoyment is experimenting with low cost gear to see what i can ring out of it. (ive also used very expensive big studio gear in the past.)
Sooo…here goes people on various recording forums have always ‘knocked’ the under 100 buck art tube mp mic pre. (often saying ‘its only good for bass guitar’ etc.) So one day i got a used one from my local gear store for 50 buks for laughs…and started experimenting and see what i could do with it.
BECAUSE on one of the forums a AE who obviously had skills in spades challenged people whether they could they tell the diff tween the art and expensive mic pre’s he owned via real life audio examples. Many people with major skills guessed incorrectly , it was a fun thread…and a lesson learned.
THUS on this song my vocal chain was…....
TASCAM TM80 condenser mic >>> art tube mp >>> input of usb audio interface. (note i dont necessarily use this chain on all songs)
Greg if you want info on what plug ins i use and/or how i record and treat vocal takes, feel free to ask as i only have limited space here to post info. fyi mainly for plug ins i use the pg collection, reaper collection and the computer music mag collection. I use plug ins spareingly. Its all just good fun experimenting. Happiness

Andi.
Very very kind of you to listen and comment.
Of course no song is ever perfect, including my own songs with flaws. but haveing used big studios in the past i remind myself sometimes pro AE's might have differences on how a song might be done. so i just do the best i can, like i assume many pg users do.
It never ceases to amaze me actually the great talent on the forums including yourself. And the songs on the showcase. mostly produced by one person doing everything. Whereas the big stars of the music biz often have large teams of people and audio engineers behind them.
Having listened to many of your songs and the obvious many hours of work you put in… All i can say is great kudos to you.
For me its all about the enjoyment of creating a song from nothing….and the joy of finally getting to a final product even with some flaws.…even tho’ my wife , my fiercest critic might say ‘oh no not for the thousandth time playing back’...lmao.
As they say…’keep rockin mate’. And the very best to you.

I like the way it moves and the instruments are a good mix. Maybe you could take the vocal down a couple of db. If you don't like it you can always change it back.

You're sounding mighty good, oldmuso.
I enjoyed the song. It's got a nice slinkyness in the groove.

Ezekiel's Storm.
Thank you sooo much.
you're a champ mate imho particularly when you make a catchy great hooky hit song like 'to be with you' which resonates deeply with not only moi but also to my very picky wife. rarely does she say 'thats a hit'. your song hits it outta the ballpark imho.
thanks for listening, and every happiness and kudos to you.

Old Muso, I like this, great job. I hear Ringo Starr in your vocals and the clarinet at the end was a nice touch. If you're familiar with the lizard in the Geico Insurance commercial, is that Cockney? If so, I can't hear that in your vocals, just good male singing
https://soundcloud.com/user-646279677BiaB 2026 Windows For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

Firesong…Rusty…Thumper.
thanks for listening. much appreciated.
Thumper….re 'cockney'...
fyi the geico accent is more a general accent imho one would find in and around london and other places in the uk. cos some people might have migrated out of london. of course wales/the north/west country have various accents of their own.
fyi a true cockney is born within the sound of 'bow bells'. its a church in london.
in my sig is the soundcloud link to all my songs ive posted on soundcloud including several cockney songs eg 'grandad' …'punk city' <<<< mentions bow bells.. just copy the link in my sig into your browser.
OR look in the back pages of the pg user showcase. both above songs feature a 'cockney lead voc accent' and contain details of when i was growing up in the east london 'cockney world' as a kid. lots of true stuff.
fyi i sing in various music styles depending on what the song calls for even tho' my heritage is 'cockney'. i'm limited on details obviously..given the nature of a forum….but if you google such topics as 'cockney history' or 'cockney rhyming slang' youll get more a flavour of typical cockney life. including the 'pearly kings and queens'. this song used another voc style of mine.
thanks again all for listening . very appreciated.
best//happiness. om
