Just uploaded XPRO3 and XTRA STYLES 13 into BB (923). Although there are many new Styles, my Style count has remained the same at 9748 even though they show in the updated overall listing. Why? Could it be because they DO NOT yet appear in the Stylepicker Category 'New in 2022’? Do they need adding (by PG) to the 'New in 2022’ category in order for it to update the total? Or am I missing something obvious? Probably. Bests Ian
Old Guys Rule.The older I get,the better I was! BB2023 ULTRA, 1013, Win 7 and 10
Strange my stylepicker seems to have less styles after I do a fast rebuild, I have quite a few third party styles like Norton etc and after instlalling the latest Xpro 3 and Xtra styles 13 I have 11,005 before a rebuild, after a rebuild its 10,975.
I know that PGmusic always say to do a rebuild and biab prompts us to do so, but my experience has been for a while NOT to do a rebuild as I end up with less total styles.
As long as you can see all the new styles Ian using the filter options I probably wouldn't worry too much about the total number shown.
Windows 10 (64bit) M-Audio Fast Track Pro, Band in a Box 2025, Cubase 14, Cakewalk and far too many VST plugins that I probably don't need or will ever use
Yes, the new Styles are all listed and work. What puzzles me is, given all the NEW Styles (+200 or more) there is no incremental increase. More importantly I guess is that the Packs DON'T SHOW in the'New for 2022' category at all. Ian

A fast rebuild only picks up BiaB style. That is why your count is lower. A slow rebuild picks up all styles, PGM and third party styles.
OK, a random thought; Why does toilet paper need a commercial? Who's not buying it?
64 bit Win 10 Pro, the latest BiaB/RB, Roland Octa-Capture audio interface, a ton of software/hardware
Make sure you are on that latest release before a rebuild and see what results you get (I got caught). Trev
BIAB & RB2026 Win.(Audiophile), Windows 10 Pro & Windows 11, Cakewalk Bandlab, Izotope Prod.Bundle, Roland RD-1000, Synthogy Ivory, Session Keys Grand S & Electric R, Kontakt, Focusrite 18i20, KetronSD2, NS40M, Pioneer Active Monitors.
I'd been wondering whether to report similar, but as I share a drive between Win10 and Wine+Linux, I wasn't wholly sure it wasn't peculiar to me. Several reports say that isn't the case, so...
My StylePicker reports 9394 styles even after saying it's added more styles. Copy list to clipboard reports 9394 styles copied and the list actually contains 9394 A count of .STY files in bb/Styles gives 9736.
I mentioned this when I had the issue of XtraPAK 13 not showing, but I didn't then pursue it for the reasons above.
2022 Build 923. Edit: I have some Norton styles and I do the slow rebuild.

Jazz relative beginner, starting at a much older age than was helpful. AVL:MXE Linux; Windows 11 BIAB2026 Audiophile, a bunch of other software. Kawai MP6, Ui24R, Focusrite Saffire Pro40 and Scarletts .
Of course, in this instance ALL the Styles are PGM product so Fast or Slow provide same number 9748. HOWEVER, during the REBUILD process a little yellow box popped up saying there were 10,120 in the list, which is about what I might have expected, but the number in the top left remains at 9748. That's telling me (as a complete non-tech) that the top left is reading the 'Categories' listing and XPRO3 and XTRASTYLES13 are not showing in that listing so doesn't include them. No? Ian

I get similar-ish in the yellow box(es): Processing 9731 Total styles 10,166
It also always reports an additional 46 files, though no numbers change.

Hi Gordon Would you do me a favour and do a rebuild (again) in Win 10 and keep your beady eyes on the bottom right corner and see if you get a little yellow box popping up momentarily saying you have lots more than the top left number? I'd be interested in yr result. BTW - I run BB2022 (923) also in a Win7 drive, with the same result so it isnt your Lino thingy. Lol.

I shall. It may take a little while as my Win10 keeps trying to install some updates, then decides it can't and rolls them all out again, occasionally throwing in some boot-up failures for good measure.

Yes, I get excited by that exaggerated value too. The yellow box happens here as well, and then the final count settles down. I have no idea why the higher value is initially reported. And I don't think we are alone.
Perhaps PG Music can advise where that ultimately undelivered value comes from? This is not new to 2022. It's happened to me for years. I'd be really interested to understand it more.
Here is my data (in the unfortunately reverse order format, latest message at the top):

I shall. It may take a little while as my Win10 keeps trying...
Today is a good day ... Win10 just started with no fuss.
All numbers the same: 9394 on the StylePicker and the final message. 9731 styles being processed (in yellow box). 10,166 total styles (in yellow box). 46 additional styles found.
I can't eliminate the possibility that something from Wine+Linux is perturbing something on Win10 ... there appears some interaction as running rebuild in one (sometimes?) results in a request to rebuild in the other, though I see no concrete affects of so doing. I suspect a date-stamp on the C drive or in the registry gets flagged.
Interestingly, to me at least, the rebuild on Wine+Linux is reported faster.
Edit: FWIW, returning to the green "Rebuild" message cites: "[code=7 (KategoriesCountBinfile)]"

Thanks Gordon, much appreciated. Can you confirm that that those 2 extra packs do not show in New for 2022?

That's probably at least a part of it, though why there are duplicates to remove I know not.

Exact same numbers, Trev. I guess that the new extra packs dont show in the New for 2022 category so couldnt actually be selected independently. Beets Ian

I don't have XPro3. I have XtraPAK 13 but either it did not appear, or possibly it was listed as Xtra Styles 12.
From the relevant thread thread...
Quote:
I think for me this is resolved:
Update BiaB to build 923 Delete /bb/Data/stylz1.bin and perhaps User_stylz1.bin Run Biab; StylePicker; Rebuild.
Edit: Caveat: PGM did not suggest deleting stylz1.bin, only User_stylz1.bin, but I kept a safe copy and did it anyway.

So the conundrum still exists - how can I have 9748 styles BEFORE adding 2 large packs of Styles and still only have 9748 afterwards, even though they appear in the extended Style listing. Over to you PG. Ian
