Over well more than a decade, Izotope, makers of the fabulous tool Ozone, have had great information about the mastering process on their website. Yes, their guides refer to their own products, but even if you don’t have Ozone you should be able to learn something by reading it. The writing style is very accessible. This is the new version of the guide. It also contains links to more basic info, such as What is Mastering. [ I remember when I first bought Ozone and used the Maximizing function.
