Great song! It's one of those I wish I'd written for my wife. Clever writing and great story. Loved the listen.

Dewey...Great hook...the metaphor plays really well with your lyrics subtly enhancing it...love the band... I always like your vocals and your phrasing...(this is just me) but I'd love to hear the entire mix with just a sprinkle of 'verb to give it a little depth...it's a really cool song that any girl would love to think was written about/for her!

Hi Dewey,

Very lovely song! Nice vocals and good lyrics.
And like Brad wrote; I wished I could make this kind of song/lyrics for my wife.

I was only wondering something about that fiddle. If I had made this song I would have saved it for the chorusses and the solo part. You used it the whole song.
Was there a reason for that?

Have a very nice day, Dewey,

Hans

Fantastic idea, Birchwood! I'll mess around with the production and do exactly as you suggest (i.e., reserve the fiddle for the choruses, only).

Dan, I do NOT have an ear for mixing so I really appreciate your input. Do you mean more reverb for the whole mix or just for my vox?

Dewey...let me reiterate how good this song is...but since you asked...I was suggesting a "little bit" on the whole track...but I'm listening now and here's what I'd do for what it's worth...I would give the drums their own reverb to pull them back on stage a bit...then I'd pan the fiddle slightly left a bit to move it away from the vocal so they don't hold the same sonic place on the stage (not a hard pan just a bit) I'd do this because the fiddle plays at the same time as the vocals and they are competing for the space...then I'd pan the mandolin or acoustic to the right (slightly) to balance the mix with the fiddle...this will make the mix sound bigger and more stereo with instruments in different sonic spaces...then add a little salt (reverb, just a sprinkle on the entire mix)...cook it up and see what it tastes like...if it sucks well that's just me...but if it makes a great song more interesting and wider then...VOILA!

Wow, this is really professional!

The timbre of your voice and the song style reminds us somewhat of that other great singer here on the forum. What's his name again? It begins with a D and ends with a J smile

Great work!

Based on this song I do not believe that at all
Great vocal
Super band backing you up
Super mix

Loved it

PS about the reverb I would put a tad on your voice and less on the backing band, except the bass and kick drum, no reverb on them. That would put you and the band in the same room. Remember though that is what I would do and others, including you, may or may not agree. Regardless what you have now is fantastic and you may choose to keep it as is; it is that good.

Mario, thank you for your advice as well! I ended up not touching the reverb on the drums as you mentioned not to do because when i did try and add some there were ghost hits in the mix that was messing it up. I did add some reverb to the whole track as well. Not sure if I improved it or may it worse to be honest with you. Regardless, I really appreciate you putting an ear to this and lending your advice!

LOL to your disclaimer, Dan! I ended up adding to the whole mix but nothing special to the drums as they had a ghost beat when I did try. I panned a bit right and left with the instruments and cleaned up my vocals a bit to. Not sure if it made it better or worse so if you have the patience and time, I'd appreciate you listening to what I did and let me know if it's in the right direction. Na zdrowie!
