Joplinesque This song was created as part of the 50/90 Challenge. I decided to see what would happen if I had Band-in-a-Box help me write a piano rag in the style of Scott Joplin. I used Melodist style 191 ("Scott Joplin - sustained") to generate a song in E♭ with an AABA structure and "acoustic piano" for the instrument. It sounded good but incomplete, so I saved this version of the song, transposed it into the key of A♭, and generated a new melody, leaving the chords intact. I saved this as version two. Then I opened up Logic Pro, imported the two songs, and used some creative cutting and splicing to mash up the two songs. This is the result. I hope you like it. Key=Eb/Ab , Tempo 140 4 bar intro, 32 bar chorus, from bar 5 to bar 36. Repeat x1 chorus Style is JOPLIN.STY Style MIDI Instruments are : Bright Piano (2 - changed to "Steinway Grand Piano" in Logic Pro), Tuba (59 - removed in mix)

This is a great little tune and you used BiaB magically...my mind immediately sees the scene a of a Charlie Chaplin film playing out in the background...you captured an era and titled it so well...great job!

This is a really creative use of BIAB. Very SJ. It certainly belongs in a 20s bar, I'd love to hear the whole band coming in afterwards.

Hit it on the money. Nice little tune. The feel I got from it reminded me a little of "The Entertainer." Very nice.

The Joplin Melodist surely is one of the best MIDI styles in BIAB.
