The Aurora Rag My first attempt at using Band-In-A-Box to create a Scott Joplin-style rag did pretty well, so I decided to see if I could do one that was longer and closer in structure to some of Joplin's actual rags. This is the result, and I think it came out pretty well. It sounds like something that might have been written by one of the many lesser-talented imitators of Scott Joplin; come to think of it, I guess that describes me reasonably well at the moment. I called this "The Aurora Rag" because I like the sound of it, and in honor of Aurora Avenue North, which used to be the highway connecting Seattle with Vancouver, BC, but nowadays is just the main drag in my part of town. For this song I created three different versions in two keys, and then used Logic Pro to splice parts of the three versions together in an AABBACCDD format similar to some of Joplin actual compositions. Created with Melodist 180 - Scott Joplin fast rag Key=Eb/Ab , Tempo 155 Style is JOPLIN.STY Style MIDI Instruments are : Bright Piano (2), Replaced in logic pro with Steinway grand piano

That rag style has always been a really fun thing. Way back in my days of taking piano lessons before I started guitar and totally ruined myself (LOL)... that was some fun stuff to play. My piano teacher encouraged pulling in of other things besides the lesson books. She tolerated a lot of pop music nonsense from me.
Really nice job on the song. I thought a couple of chords could have been different but that's because it was what I was hearing in my head and not anything you did wrong. Good job.

Love Joplin. I bought the CD of his complete works about 30 years ago. I enjoyed this. Sounds mighty good to me!

and very nice sound.
just a suggestion, maybe introduce a 'build up ' idea ?
ie gradually adding other rt's as the song progresses ?
