The vocals indeed kinda remind me on Talking Heads in a good way. I think the song is also good. But I think there are changes needed to get to the full potential The first thing which I would change (if it was my song): the hi-pitched more monotonic vocals in the verses build up a LOT of tension, and a melodic chorus would nicely release this tension. (The Talking Heads coincidentally have a nice example of what I mean: https://youtu.be/O52jAYa4Pm8?t=68) Your chorus starts promising, but kinda goes nowhere. Maybe make the first 2 lines of the chorus a pre-chorus and then create a melodic chorus. I'm quite new here in this forum, so I hope it's okay to bluntly write my opinion...
