Yeah, it's not weird sounds just different parts of the kit. I don't have anything open right now but lets say GM mapping has the snare on key number A2. Imap may have it on Gb2 and the A2 key could be a floor tom or something. If you create a drum track using Imap, the midi notes are being recorded using the Imap system. That is fine but if you were to send that midi file to someone else who doesn't have Sampletank, then that drum track will sound "weird" to them too. This is the big tradeoff about using GM. It's a recognized standard, a lot of people use it so it's great for swapping files around but it doesn't support all kinds of neat stuff like Imap or Garritans controller's for horn articulations and lots of other stuff. Gm is generic but works great for a lot of people.
