Duke of Uke

BIAB Style: RONDA.STY

RealDrums=RumbaFlamencaPerc (Reverb 25)

3240:Guitar, Nylon, Rhythm RumbaFlamencaFast 16ths Ev 16 120 (Reverb 55)

3064:Vocal Oohs, Rhythm Pop3-part Ev 085 (Reverb 55)

OTHER INSTRUMENTS:

Lead Ukulele: Akoni AK-XM026ELH

Recording train: Fender Mustang LT-50 modeling amp; Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB interface; Reaper DAW.

This piece is based on a chord-progression I used for an earlier piece (Rhumba Don't Slumber).
This offering has an entirely different melody, the pitch is up two semitones, the electric guitar is gone and I swapped the nylon-string guitar for the ukulele.

Yes those strings add a lot!
Super melody and backing band.
Extremely well mixed.
Two thumbs up

I arrived early to a restaurant.
The manager asks, "do you mind waiting a bit?"
I said no.
"Good", he said. "Take these drinks to table 3"

Nice work on the ukulele! I also like the way the electric piano soloist seamlessly takes over.

Yes, Rob, I like it too. The first time I added strings they ended in bar 20. This version takes them into the next bar, where the EP has already begun. I must add that I am so impressed with these Real Tracks. They bring an indispensable richness and an ambience to the whole process.

Hi Brian ...

Benn away for quite a while until recently. Missed your music! I don't think I've ever heard one from you that wasn't top shelf. And this one is equally well done. I'm impressed with the smooth transition of the lead instruments - really nice!

I didn't get a chance to hear it before you added the strings ... but they sure do sound good! Thanks for another great listen ...

Alan

What jumped out to me was the strings; delicate and sweet. So I scrolled back up to see how you included them but they weren't mentioned. I thought, that's odd, did I really hear them. Then I noticed you did a remix . . . light bulb smile

Very nice and very professional. Great job.

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

Nicely done, Brian.
I don't think it would occur to me to use a ukulele as a lead instrument
(It had a nylon guitar tone to it - which I guess "makes sense").

Nice mix.

You have not missed much, Alan. I've had nothing to contribute to the forum for several months too (not for health reasons but to finish some writing projects). Glad you liked this little tune. smile

Previously, I've only strummed the uke but recently I came across YT videos where people played them fingerstyle or picked out melodies. I thought I would give it a try. smile

Sorry! I forgot to add that the strings (Symphonic Strings Trad) from Reason 11, were added via my Korg K61p midi keyboard.
