What's to keep the record companies from anticipating this development and entering a clause in the original contract signed by the young artist who still has stars in his or her eyes?
I remember hearing an interview with a member of one of the great 90's girl groups. They were in for a shock when the time came for the producers to distribute the accumulated money. The group got the bill for just about everything that had been racked up in four year long the process.
