superb lyrics and comments bout the schisms in society.
my wife and i were discussing the same this week.
a lot of countries have same problem.
talent all the way. cute harmonics on gtr.

om

In the past I have used harmonics and they were not too clear. This time I reduced the gain on them a bit and they turned out better. Thanks OM

Good stuff, Herb, lyrics are right on the money IMHO. And the sad part is you need to be a certain age to see the truth in them.
Love your vocal, and your guitar work is right on the money as per usual. I especially liked the use of double stops, and that slow bend up to the 'G' to end the song. Loved it, listened a couple of times.

Dave

I sometimes hate being right, and this is unfortunately, one of them. Thank you for noticing the details.... double stops and bends.... I was conflicted on that final bend..... thought it might sound to predictable. Thanks for listening.

Great song Herb.

In Germany (our next-door neighbour) Winnetou was just cancelled.
You're probably familiar with the novels by Karl May?
Anyway, a very famous writer in Europe....

Rob and Anne-Marie

Sanity seems to be being canceled everywhere. I'm not familiar with that writer, but I may have to look them up and investigate. If it's being canceled, it's probably worth checking out. Thanks Guys....! ( and Gals)

Cool Herb.

Great song. With a rebel yell and a big hell yeah man.
Been to any of your shootin' ranges lately?? Anyone tried to come onto your property??
Somehow, I doubt it. Don't think anyone would be that stupid but you never know.
David S.

David. We're so far back off the road as you well know, that not many folk know we're back here so we don't get too many folks coming up the driveway plus there's the gate which is always closed and the sign "DOG ON PROPERTY" which deters the vast majority from venturing in on foot. Ranges.... well, they're literally in my backyard so...... (wink wink)

Glad you liked the song.

Herb...really great title on a really cool song...some national country artist ought to pick this one up...reminded me of Creedence or Bob Seger...so well written and delivered...the guitar work is impeccable and I love that tempo range for a good country/rock tune...I totally agree with Dave in that "the sad part is you need to be a certain age to see the truth in them (the lyrics)"...I'm old enough to "Miss America".

Hi Guitarhacker,

I like the lyrics that describe the situation of many countries. The sound of your guitar is perfect symbiosis with your singing. Everything is well done.

Yeah, the lyric is relative to your age, your race, your gender and your politics or all four! smile
But everybody can always carve out a niche and engage in a little nostalgia! And that is the make of a good lyric when one can make it theirs.

Good vocals, crunchy guitars and mix too.
That RD sounded excellent.

I agree with you on the national artist pickup.... The rhythm guitars are a CCR preset so that was intentional that it has that vibe.... and Bob Seger is very close in that same respect. Thanks for listening closely.

I think it's all planned..... but that's a topic for another forum. Thanks for the keen observations.

I'd say yep...all four. The RD is a standard RT with a few tweeks to the EQ and compression. I'm really partial to that guitar tone on the lead. Thanks for listening and commenting.

Geez, Herb, a totally professional country groove with a contemporary message that places it out front of just about anything we have been hearing in a long time. Neat play on words!
Nashville says it is trying to navigate this new age. Brother, they'd do well to look in your direction.
Great work!

Thanks Ed. I get tired of trying to write the same old love song with different words so I let my hair down and write what I see. I do appreciate your comment. There's a local DJ at the Raleigh radio station who is a writer with a legit Nashville hit in his catalog. He runs a "local artists and writers" show once a week and has featured a few of my tunes on occasion, but this one would certainly garner the thanks but ...."it's a bit too controversial for prime time radio" reply.

Good job Herb! Love the lyrics and it's a supercool hook. The guitar thread is rocking too.

The only suggestion I have - and this is a personal thing - my ear expected a more consistent rhyming scheme and to have the line before the hook in the chorus rhyme with America. Again, it's just my opinion; regardless, I really liked this one.

Na zdrowie!

I like the contrast between the rather upbeat melody and the critical lyrics.
This is very cleverly done.

2 thumbs up!
