Something new. Miss America A simple arrangement on this. Style is Stunner Modern country Drums are Nashville even 8 Bass is 4030 B3 is 686 I'm handling the rhythm guitar and the lead. A couple of vocal tracks, a few Vsts/fx plugs, and Sonar X1 for the mix. Edit: Almost forgot.... here's the words Well we've had it so good in this country for a long time Living the life the rest of the world only dreams Talking heads on the tv news, Ignore the truth that our kids were abused And leave the impression that we're still free to choose Is it she or they, he or them, I don't even know where to begin When I talk about how this world has gone insane Folks without enough food to eat, homeless living on the street And the banks are only worried bout their balance sheet Oh no, this ain't the country I grew up in Oh no , they're trying to cancel old Huck Finn I just want to leave my children the place I knew back then Oh oh I miss America Solo In the land of milk and honey, it all comes down to power and money Everyone wants a bigger slice of the pie We've taken our eye off the ball, kids dying from fentanyl There's only justice for some but not for all. Oh no, this ain't the country I grew up in Oh no, they're trying to cancel old Huck Finn I just want to leave my children the place I knew back then Oh oh I miss America I just want to leave my children the place I knew back then Oh oh I miss America Oh oh I miss America

It sounds excellent - great guitar intro, solid vocals, excellent backing tracks. Clever title, too! As for the lyrics... I'm not sure there's ever been a time when banks didn't put the balance sheet first. And Huck Finn has been banned somewhere every year since its publication. Yeah, I'll stop now. But as a song? Awesome!

Guitarhacker--
Plus one from me on the comments by David above. The arrangement, vocals and production value are rock solid--and I love your work on the guitar (the fills are great). You'll get mixed reactions on those lyrics, particularly in our current divisive world. But from the point of view the singer, it's very well done. Nice work on this!
Best regards,
Deej

Hacker, very well done. Your guitars are great and the lyrics take us back to a simpler (although still imperfect) time. This experiment we call America is still a work in progress.
I agree, very clever title, it threw me off balance in a good way.

-- David Cuny David, thanks for listening. The title actually changed right there at the end of the writing. One of those last minute revisions to the lyrics caused a disruption in the previous title.... the evolution of a song. Yeah, I'm with you on the banning of books. It's been a thing for a long time. I remember our English class reading it out loud with no redactions on the words contained therein, before certain words were verboten and mentioned only by their first letter. Plus one from me on the comments by David above. The arrangement, vocals and production value are rock solid--and I love your work on the guitar (the fills are great). Deej Deej, thanks for your comments. So far, I've not gotten any blowback on the lyrics or the topics discussed. It wasn't written to be controversial but I realize it might trigger some folks however, that's not the intent. It's a song. Nothing more, nothing less, although it was written, as were many of the songs I grew up listening too in the 60s, a commentary on the current state of affairs in the nation. Hacker, very well done. Your guitars are great and the lyrics take us back to a simpler (although still imperfect) time. This experiment we call America is still a work in progress. I agree, very clever title, it threw me off balance in a good way. Was it Dylan who said "These times are a changin" ?
Bass Thumper Thanks. Funny that you mentioned the guitars. I have been wanting to do a song with guitars as a primary rhythm underpinning. Much like CCR was in their hayday. I started by looking for a CCR preset and found a good one. Kind of based on the guitar tones in Proud Mary, Have you ever seen the rain and a few other CCR tunes. The lead was a factory preset tone that I edited to be closer to the gritty tube sound I have always liked. A bit crunchy but smooth, with some teeth when you need the bite. Regarding the title..... yeah, its not that famous "Here she comes, Miss America" is it?

Mario Thanks Mario. If I understand this correctly, I think you liked the song. LOL! Hi Herb Fantastic song !!! Everything fits together perfectly a really cool song Excellent work Herb Many greetings
Andi ;-) Andi, I appreciate you listening and commenting. Thanks. Love the edge your guitar gives the song. Very cool country rocker. Super vocal.
Scott C Scott.... man I thought the same thing about the guitars. Love the guitar and so when I can get a good guitar based song.... I'm loving it. I'm often my own worst critic when it comes to the guitar parts. Such a good write, Herb. Your lyrics are superb, bud. Love the vocals, too. Your guitar work is perfect. What a terrifically catchy title. I miss her too.
Marty
Marty.... Thanks. I worked on these lyrics a bit..... toned them down in a few places, spiced them up in others, and edited it even after the scratch vox tracks were done. Occasionally, I just have to put into song and verse the things I have rattling around in my head. Clear out the static so to speak. The title was one of the last minute changes as it was originally Missing America. I had to rewrite the final lines to get things to work but that's what we do as song writers. We write.

Herb, Listened to it couple of days in the car, second spin. Deceptive title for this tune Excellent lyrics vocal performance and playing! Powerful. The only critical suggestion I have, is I believe solo guitar is a bit hot at times. Thank you for sharing. Misha.

Brad Brad, thanks. To me the words "tasteful" and "great tone" are among the highest compliments in my opinion one can give to a guitarist or any musician for that matter, Again Thanks. Good song. Really liked the guitar parts around the chorus. Well sung played and mixed.

Misha.
I hate to admit it but I think you are possibly on to something about the guitar being a bit too hot in a few places. But as a guitar player.... I;m screaming inside, NO NO NO, the guitar can NEVER be "too hot". Thanks for that observation. Good song with an excellent chorus plus very tasty guitar work.
Nigel Thank you for the compliment on the tasty licks....

Good stuff, Herb, lyrics are right on the money IMHO. And the sad part is you need to be a certain age to see the truth in them.
Love your vocal, and your guitar work is right on the money as per usual. I especially liked the use of double stops, and that slow bend up to the 'G' to end the song.
Loved it, listened a couple of times.

Great song Herb.
In Germany (our next-door neighbour) Winnetou was just cancelled. You're probably familiar with the novels by Karl May? Anyway, a very famous writer in Europe....

Cool Herb. Great song. With a rebel yell and a big hell yeah man. Been to any of your shootin' ranges lately?? Anyone tried to come onto your property?? Somehow, I doubt it. Don't think anyone would be that stupid but you never know.
