Something I wrote a few days ago. I think the melody (apart from the very beginning) is a little static, perhaps ... but there we are, see if you agree or disagree? I'm still officially "on sabbatical", still looking for proper inspiration and resting my mind, in the meantime, but I just thought I'd share this one, anyway. See what you think. Thanks.

This came out very nicely James. I thought it was a good mix and a nice melody, and I didn't think it had was too static.

James this is a great song.
Great melody.

To really nitpick when one is trying to emulate a wind instrument one must allow the emulated player to breathe. No whistler or flutist can hold notes and/or phrases like yours here for that long. Been there - done that and I still make that mistake myself. Note that this is just my opinion and others may or may not agree with me.

Regardless this is a great song.

Two thumbs up.

I like the whistle and flute a lot, and can hear you singing or saying the wonderful lyrics you have yet to write for this, James. This song IS your inspiration, brother. Write the words that only you can, and speak them like only you can over the wonderful melody you already have.

Enjoy whatever happens!

James,
Its a good melody...Marty said it perfectly: let your inner wordsmith get to work. I missed your vocals!

Thank you, all, ever so much for such truly kind comments!

Responding to specific comments made:

Mario: yes. I was thinking of the fact that it perhaps needed a breath of two in the VSTs. On the other hand, that's why we have VSTs, right? to do what the "normal" instrument can't do. I'll reflect on it, but you have a very, very good point there! Thanks for your wonderful comments!

Marty: ever so kind, and eloquent, too, in your kindness. Thank you so much.

Robert: have had a bit of a writer's block, of late (to put it mildly, haha), so I've avoided writing lyrics for a while. The good news is that the clouds seem to be lifting, at long last - and now it's just a question of finding the time to sit and write. Thank you so, so much for your very kind and thoughtful, as always, comments!

Hi musican17,

The flute is well chosen but the length of the notes does not seem realistic to me. Apart from this detail, the melody is very pleasant and the whole pleasant.

Kindly regard

Yeah, it's easy to get lost listening to that wonderful vibrato you're playing and forget to let off the key. I've certainly done that. This is very nice and has a smooth energy that is unusual, I think, in music. Usually you get frenetic and mellow and not much in between, that's what I like about this. Good work.

Thanks Derochette and Tunemonger. I will see what to do about the long notes, though I must say I quite like them, haha. Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment!

Lovely and mysterious and smooth ... evokes a lot of nature images.

Nice listening while looking at the forest out our "studio" window!
