Very nice piece of work you have produced there, Bass Thumper. It strikes me as a kind of meditation, like a classic formal piece we might hear at a military review...the bass march.
It also serves a purpose in that it gets people to thinking and remembering what happened and continues to happen in this very complex part of the world.

Well done!

Hello Janice and Bud, you guys get exactly what we were striving for. Of course we will always be hobbyists and everything we do can be improved but it's nice to know that our basic music communication skills are intact. We were beginning to wonder smile

Let's continue to hope for Ukraine's final and complete victory.

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

Thanks Ed,
A military review? Yeah, we never thought of that but that is a very valid interpretation.
We appreciate the feedback.

In today's "enlightened" world, international borders must be respected, otherwise injustice and chaos will rule. There will always be shades of gray, but (according to the UN) this is black and white.

I admire the depth of thought and sincerity behind your concept and the result of all the work it must take to produce an instrumental like this... and I enjoyed listening with your introduction in mind.
Its way beyond me to comment on the tech.aspects, but for the most part I think you succeeded in the progression from ominous to uplifting.
Well done!

Musically I don't really find the count in after the ominous synth intro useful..far better is your bass lead in later which is very cool.
I think it's a successful piece musically though perhaps would've worked even better without the drum track.

Geo-politically I agree with the sentiments, (who couldn't?), but there are rather larger conflicts and greater death tolls that the west is wilfully ignoring for subtle, or not, racial/cultural/political/financial reasons. We've been media herded into support for only one of several very just causes.

Cheers

Hi Robert,
Many thanks for the kind words. Yes, this was a lot of work and even with much back-and-forth with my music collaborator Marty there is much room for improvement as some of the above comments attest.

To communicate a message instrumentally in a clear and enjoyable way is not an easy endeavor for us, but with BiaB, it certainly is fun to try.

Once again I can count on your intelligent analysis. I think I said before that I like how your mind works Ray smile

I've become a creature of habit regarding the count-in. It's something that I have always liked in BiaB and in general helps set the tempo for me and Marty at the beginning of the song. I know I could delete it in my DAW post-recording, but I like it nonethless. In this particular song, we found it to be a good demarcation between the synth and the intro . . . personal preferrence I'd say. But if you'd like to help re-mix/re-master this, let me know. And thanks for the kind words of encouragement especially regarding my bass . . . I'm still learning.

I agree that (unfortunately) there are other issues around the world with greater death tolls than the situation in Ukraine and that yes, there is always some amount of "media herding" going on. But the "Emperor with no shirt" has given thinly veiled threats of using nuclear weapons to defend territory that he has illegally seized. And that if he carries thru the US would deliver "catastrophic consequences" upon Russia.

Could we be in a pre-WW3 phase?

Very cool song BT. Loved the light melody and the dissonance creeping in gave the song a really cool feel. Very emotional piece..
