I recall reading that - unlike our current view of cemeteries as dreary places - they basically existed as the first form of public parks. But this is more a early 19th century sort of thing - a bit later than this particular cemetery.

It's always sad to see something lost and abandoned - doubly so for memorial intended to keep memories of loved ones alive.


Our area has literally hundreds of old family cemeteries that have been long abandoned over the generations as the land exchanged hands many times. But we also have many older well kept public cemeteries. So we see both sides. Thanks for watching!
