Nytonyx Stylizer 1.0

I have, in a previous post referred to the above product as an easy to use program aimed at adding CC and Bend data to Midi tracks to emulate the different instrument playing styles.

This product is now a FREE Download from "ntonyx.com" complete with a relevant Key.

The program works well with RealBand and PTW and interfaces via a Midi File to many DAWS, but for the above PG Music products, the Midi Clipboard can be used.

Organise the Midi or Seq file so that Channels and Tracks use the same number from Track 1 with Drums on Channel 10 – use Edit > Rechannel tracks to ensure that each track is set up correctly (the Stylizer does not like mixed channels in a Track). Use basic GM instrument numbers such as 41 for Violin to set up for the correct style transformation.

Copy the Seq or Midi file Tracks – Open the Stylizer program and Paste. Tracks will appear on a separate line in twos,

You have now the choice of five Parameters:

Starts: This changes the Start timing of notes – low is good but does depend on the rigidity of the original tracks.

Accents: This will change the dynamics of the tracks – default is usually the best start

Breath: This is Expression generally CC11 but, in Options you can reset to CC2 Breath if your Synth uses this Controller. Start at the default

Pitch: Pitchbends – start with the default as a general setting. Variation between Tracks can be obtained by processing the single track separately (see below) or by altering the Bend Range via RPNs (registered parameter numbers) later in the DAW.

Vibrator: this is CC1 Modulation and the one to watch. Each Synth and Patch treat this Controller differently. Relatively large ranges of CC1 via my Creative Soundcard are tolerated but the same level via the Ketron SD 2 affects the tones and in some cases the sound is better with no CC1 included. Start at low levels say 30 and experiment.

Now choose a Transformation from the drop down list. Here you will need to experiment for example “Classic Energy” is very good for Big Bands.

When happy, Copy the Tracks in Stylizer and then, in RealBand/PTW remove existing Midi Data for all Tracks with Track > Erase Data Only and Paste the Clipboard to Track 1 Then use Edit > Extract Channels to Tracks to separate Tracks. Use Cut and the Data Filter to remove the CC7 Volume and Program codes.

If you are unhappy, try again. If a single Track is not as you want then you can use Mute and Solo in Stylizer and change the parameters to alter this Track only. Copy and Paste the new Track to the relevant instrument Track in RealBand/PTW.

This is a stable program and problems are generally due to something wrong in the Midi/Seq file. While there are no problems with the XP Operating System, I have no information concerning use with later Operating Systems such as Windows 7 and will be pleased to get a “heads up” of problems. As Ntonyx has no User Forum, I will be happy to respond to PMs in this Forum.
