9/8 is a 3/4 type of style, with triplets.

So you shouldn't spend any time trying to make a 4/4 style from it.
Instead make a 3/4 style, where each beat of the style is 3/8, which gives you 3 x 3/8 = 9/8
Don't start with an existing 9/8 style (because some of our odd-time styles are meant to work over 4/4), instead start with a waltz style (3/4), and modify it.
