If you open the Big Lyrics window and then click on "Options" (#2) on the image below, just deselect the two chord-related check-boxes that I've labeled #3. That should do the job for you.
Thanks so much for responding. I do that but they still display. I tried to attach screen shots of 1) showing my unchecked boxes and 2) the big lyrics window with chord symbols still displaying, but I couldn't figure out how to or find the way to do that. That's maybe another thread? :-) To clarify, I know how to do screen shots but can't see the icons for attachments here in the Post window.
Also, I just downloaded the latest version of BIAB, just in case that might help, but it is the same result.
The box for 'show chord symbols above the lyrics' works, by the way.

As you can see by the graphic below, when I have the two options that I mention in my previous post de-selected, there are no chords in the Big Lyrics Window.
What I suggest...
1) Double-check that the update that you loaded into BIAB was indeed the latest one. To do this, have a look at "Help | About Band In A Box". The update version you have currently installed will be in brackets at the end of your version of BIAB... e.g. Version 2022(926). This is saying that I have BIAB 2022 and it's updated with the latest version which is 926.
If you don't have 926 installed, you can find it at the following link below. Just download it and manually run the file. When the installation asks you to confirm program paths, just double-check that all the paths are correct.
I figured it out. I was using lyrics I had quickly put in the bar lyrics layer, just to test this out. Apparently for me at least, this feature works only with note based lyrics. When I entered in some melody notes and entered in some note based lyrics, it worked!
FYI I did all of the stuff you suggested.
