Thanks a ton for listening David. I know you've got to be busy with the release of your new album, so I appreciate the time you take to listen and comment.
Thanks Scott, I'm fighting with that vocal now, but unfortunately, it keeps fighting back - so we'll see.
Hey there TuneMonger, glad you stopped by for a listen and thanks for the comment. Yeah, I love Brent Mason's pickin', but a lot of his Biab tracks are so busy they call for a lot of editing and splicing, and this one was no exception for me.
Thank you Rob and Anne-Marie, I'm glad you took the time to check it out.
Hi there Floyd, thanks for the comments. I've added a little reverb on the lead vocal, and then put some more on the master track for everything. I think it may have worked, but the overall volume of the song has dropped significantly. Before I could save and post it though, my computer started acting up. So I'm dead in the water until I can get it fixed. Ah, technology - love it or hate, or in my case, I just love to hate it!
Ha, ha Alan ... I've seen a few of those Rexall Rangers too! Me, I love horses and can ride, but I'm just good enough to know that I'm not very good.
Janice and Bud, thanks so much for trying it out.
Hello Dewey, Nah, I never did. I've spent a lot of time in the "cowboy country" of northern Nevada and several of my friends did and still do. Never got a chance to meet him, but Casey Tibbs spent a lot of time where I lived. That roping can be dangerous on the fingers. One of my friends won several buckles in team roping and wanted me to give it a try with him, but I was always afraid of losing a finger and not being able to play guitar, so I never tried it. I really wanted to give bull doggin' a try, but it didn't work out either.
Thanks a bunch for listening Robert. Dan Linn is a real person, he's a real good friend of mine. I've never seen him sit a horse, but I'm careful about how much I tease him, because I've been around a lot of good shooters in my time, and I never knew anyone that could out shoot him.
I'm sure glad you liked the tune Torrey, because I like so many of yours sooo much. Yeah, it's a good thing God has always had control in my life, because most of the time it seems I didn't - no matter how I may have tried.
Thanks Andi. I was thinking of you earlier today. My wife and daughter are planning a trip out to Germany this winter to see some of the Christmas markets and other sights. My wife would like to take me there too, and we probably will go there eventually.
Thank you for lending me your ears Derochette!
Thank you Greg. I had told my brother that I wanted to write a rodeo song. He liked the idea and said there were already enough songs about bull riders, so I ought to write one for bronc riders and call it The Devil Wrapped in Rawhide, so I did. Of course, he turned right around and wrote one about bull riding - which I think is a better song than mine too. Brothers ... I guess you have to love 'em.

A good song and vocal performance. The vocals are, to my ears, a little too far forward...sounds like they were dropped on top....it may be a difference of reverb as well as level. There's a fair bit of sibilance that accentuated by the reverb. The sizzle from the essing accentuates the forwardness of the vocal. A de-esser is an easy way to deal with it but may be less than perfect...a little manual level automation, pre FX, would deal with it nicely.

Brad,
All that you need is to find a way to get those vocals to "sit in the mix" better. That night be a volume issue, but it is sometimes simple a need for more reverb and/or delay (or sometimes a different reverb choice. Hard to say without doing a bit of mixing experimentation... Souldn't take much, I don't think.
That being said...I enjoyed the ride!
fj I agree. A short-delay or reverb may do the trick. In any case, I like the song and your energy throughout. Btw, the Tele in the photo looks just like the one I have. Take care.
