Personally I'm perfectly happy to pay for software that's good for me and I'll make donations for free-beer software and to things like Wikipedia.
Some of that "good for me", though, is related to familiarity. There are many people who love BiaB's note entry system, but I can't get my head around it at all. I find it unusable. That's probably just me.

Gordon, you are not alone. I also donate to free software if I use it a lot. I also find BiaB's note entry system unusable. I find other note entry systems much easier. Again YMMV and I do not knock other people's workflow.
I think my wife has started to show the first signs of dementia.

Band-in-a-Box 2026 Video: AI Stems & Notes - split polyphonic audio into instruments and transcribe
This video demonstrates how to use the new AI-Notes feature together with the AI-Stems splitter, allowing you to select an audio file and have it separated into individual stems while transcribing each one to its own MIDI track. AI-Notes converts polyphonic audio—either full mixes or individual instruments—into MIDI that you can view in notation or play back instantly.
