LOVE BITTER BLUES

This is my third and final run at this one. I tried to do this about a year ago and posted it, but the vocal was not good (was suffering from a bad cold) and I took it down. I feel this time I have gotten it close to my original vision for the tune! I have replaced several of the Realtracks used on the previous version with my playing because I felt I could fit the groove a little better with my tracks. My long-time writing partner Ron Helm helped me with a line or 2 in the chorus and therefore I credit him as a co-writer. Thanks to all who give it a spin (again). I appreciate it! T

Love Bitter Blues
Words and music by
Torrey Bliss and Ron Helm
©2022 Glass Gate Music BMI

A new beginning came disguised
As a painful ending
It gave to me a brand new song
And my heart's now mending
Now I believe dreams do come true
And I'd do anything to prove my love to you

I'd buy the moon give it to you
I'd make the world stop turning
All for the One who caused me to
Stop singing these
Lost out on love bitter blues

Somebody told me once
My past would always own me
Then turned to walk away and said
That's it, end of story
Oh life goes on but it's been renewed
And this love in my heart
I now must show to you

I'd buy the moon give it to you
I'd make the world stop turning
All for the One who caused me to
Stop singing these love bitter blues

The happiness I once thought was real in truth
Was eclipsed by reality
I surely was the one befooled
You opened up a door
And the sunshine of your love came through

I'd buy the moon give it to you
I'd make the world stop turning
All for the One who caused me to
Stop singing these
Lost out on love bitter blues

Hey Torrey ...

Love some Swing Blues. I don't recall having heard the original post, but this puppy shines! The two things that impress me the most are your vocal and the deep down dirty swing presentation. The whole thing is great, but those two things really stuck with me.

The vocal change 2:22 thru 2:36 was super! Loved the quick-hit falsettos at the end of the lines. And the lead guitar that followed was spot on.

Thanks for a really solid and enjoyable song! Excellent work, Torrey. You never let the listener down.

Alan

Torrey...I don't remember the first shot at this so I probably didn't hear it but this is fantastic! If this is the blues then it's Carolina blue (very light and joyful)...first of all the vocal is superb...love the falsetto work and the harmonies are so tight! your melodies are so unique and refreshing...it has so many cool nuances...I also like the crispness of the drum kit and your guitar work is always so good! plus I'm jealous of your organ playing...just another super tune...is this a Torrey and Ron album song? Hope so...Dan

I haven't listened to the first version, but this one is definitely good.
Good song, good arrangement, good mix and your vocals are really very good.

And I just LOVE the chorus!

Torrey,
You make your point with those punctuation licks...they and the ace bass match the groove perfectly.
Another classic vocal performance with some interesting jumps to spice the package.
Sensational.

Hi Torrey.

I love, love, love everything about this!

You've taken music making into the stratosphere with your performances (singing and musical), your production and your attention to detail. There is nothing that I would change.

The standout for me was the lyric movement in the bridge. This took my completely by surprise and was perfectly positioned in the song to grab the listener's attention.

Really first-class listening!

All the best,
Noel

Torrey,

A big WOW for the mix here. It sounds like a commercial release. Killer.

Beautiful vocals.
Gorgeous bass.
Love your guitar work on this. Tone to die for.

Excellent write. Radio Pop. Good as it gets.

I absolutely remember this one because the chorus was just so juicy good! Really love your vocal for this, those falsettos totally make it. This is the kind of tune that made me such a fan in the first place. And a secular tune to boot, I love it! Great work!

Thanks Dan! Although I would like to take credit for the best organ sounds on this one, I can't. My parts just consisted of little fills and swells to fill in the gaps that the realtrack didn't cover. T
