Look at the Activity Monitor. Processes that glitch will show up in red temporarily. Chase them down and eliminate from your system; resolve any conflicts.

Do you have any Corel products installed other than Roxio Toast? There's an updater daemon that caused this exact issue for me; the only fix was to remove every Corel product from my system. The company doesn't admit the problem but I can make it reoccur by reinstalling any of their products. It was the Activity Monitor that let me find and fix this on my machines.

It doesn't have to be Corel. There are similar issues with Dropbox if you let it back up everything (I have that turned off). Do you have AutoTune installed? There are issues with older versions of the CodeMeter runtime that Antares uses for its license. How about antivirus apps—if old or not configured properly or crapware such as drive optimization and bla, bla, bla…?

What oldmuseo says about Microsoft OneDrive. If you have it, get rid of it. Microsoft has had so many problems that they threw in the towel and it is no longer part of Office as of January 2022. As of March, it no longer syncs and MS has discontinued support.

Also, you've given no clue as to your setup including hardware, MacOS, what version of BIAB and how you have it installed. I know the Mac inside out, upside down and sideways but I don't read minds.
