What a lovely song. I wish I could get my mixing right like that...whenever I sing to my music it always sound so harsh or like I am singing karaoke...it is so frustrating...it seems like no one can be bothered to explain simply in layman's terms how to mix a vocal - or what settings to use. I have a sound booth and I am using a condenser mic - I just don't get it ....I have so many gospel songs that I have written but can't do anything with as I can't record them correctly.

Wonderful song and arrangement, especially the things YOU did (vocals and strings) make this song great.
In terms of mixing, your vocals sing behind the band (in terms of space, not timing), a little less reverb would make them play on the same stage.

Really beautiful stuff, the way you used reverb on your voice made it sound a bit like Glenn Yarbrough to me. It was a lot of reverb but I didn't mind it. Nice lyrics by your friend, they fit the meter of the song really well. Terrific work!

I stumbled and I fell out of grace and into shame." Man, that just reaches out and grabs you. It's a great paraphrase of the prodigal son. A story told so long ago, but the way it's presented here, you can see it taking place in present times so clearly. I liked all aspects of the production.
