A BIG Merry Christmas to you, Vic. I know David mentioned this same couplet, but it bares repeating: "I'm not one of those who just stares at his beer I have a few friends. It's a shame they're not here." This is a wonderfully sad Christmas song. The original word "sad" meant full of all emotions, including what we now call happiness, sadness, joy, sorrow and all the other conflicting emotions. Christmas coming at the end of the year is the perfect time for all of those reflections, and your Christmas song is very sad in the etymological infancy of the word . Those sad times now often reflect what once was very happy times. The friends no longer with us is a good point. I don't know where I'm going with this, so let me say I love the song, man.
