Anybody interested in performing at the Vienna Folk Festival next Spring?

I was asked to get involved this year at the last minute. I sourced a bass amp, a guitar amp, a cajon, a drum kit, a bass guitar, a pre-gig outside of the festival, hosted a band for 5 days and even DJed. I also got some publicity for it and got it into the papers and on radio. Now, I am officially on board as one of the key organisers! There was a great lineup with 40 bands over 2 days on 2 stages. Next year, I hope to get some serious sponsors involved and take it outdoors to a venue I have in mind with a great view over the city. There is no other folk festival like this in all Austria. If you would like to get involved or play, please let me know - a demo CD would be very helpful, particularly for putting together a compilation CD for the radio stations to play leading up to the event.

Bands/Acts we had this year came from all over: England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Holland, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, and even the good old USA. As far as I can ascertain, folk here means involving an acoustic guitar but all styles are welcome
