I think Jerry's reply means that Brent wanted it to sound that way. I know several lead guitarists who 'play to the effects'. recording 'dry' would take away that ability. obviously a separate dry signal could be recorded as well but it wouldn't be what Brent wanted - although it might be what you prefer.

i know there are some DI guitar tracks sans effects so you could try them. In a real life situation you'd be arguing with the lead guitarist about 'his' sound.
