Comments welcome.
Question: Is there a setting in BiaB to force the piano up an octave to be more bright? As-is it sounds a tad dull/hidden to me.
Edit: Per suggestions here I made a remix. Mario showed me how to change the octave of a channel so I increased from 0 to 1 on the piano but that didn't brighten it too much so I increased it to 2. The effect is still not huge but I do like it better now.
I followed Andi's suggestion and chopped out the count-in click. I'll try to remember this in the future.
And the strings were a tad to strong so I reduced them a couple dB.
I should have mentioned this earlier but although I don't know the name of the LA Pop Jazz Drummer, I think these drums are superb; crisp and tight yet rich. Walking With You - Remix

I thought it was great, it had strong r&b elements and I loved when the vibes and strings came into the picture. I would love to hear a vocal on top of this and all kinds of musical possibilities were going through my mind. I hope you do add a vocal if you sing at all. If not, there's always synth5 or fiverr. Great work!

Nice melody Bass Thumper. Very well done. I agree, this song is begging for some words - you've already brought out the feel in your music. I thought the intro sounded a little hollow without the bass in there, but I'm not sure I would change it, just because it sounded so good when it got started. Great job.

Thanks TuneMonger, I really wish I could sing, if you're interested we could work on some lyrics. If not, maybe I'll "jump off the cliff" and consider a synthetic vocal program next year. I agree, some romantic vocals would be nice.

Hey Brad, thanks for the feedback. I guess the piano wasn't too hidden after all, I thought it was. The only "vocals" I could muster was in the C section where the band drops out and I slide up on the bass from a lower B note to an octave higher. The goal was to create an "Mmmmmm" sound as in "Mmmm, Mmmm, Good!" From reading some of David's past posts, I think he might agree

Piano - I don't think there is a function in BIAB to lift the piano by an octave (I may be wrong).
A suggestion - it is probably a stereo piano file and if so I would typically place it on the right hand side of the mix and move the rhythm guitar to the left. I would then pan the piano around 30-35 to the right. In this way you should primarily hear the higher notes played by the right hand.
Merry Xmas Nigel

I love a nice soothing instrumental and this did it for me.
Many thanks David. My reference to you above is based on one of your posts earlier this year where I think you said something to the effect of "moving in for the kiss".

I wasn't sure about the mix, something felt a little off balance, but you guys have MUCH more experienced ears than I do.
Glad you liked it. It took me several days to create the bass line even though it's not particularly complex. This may sound dumb, but I'm slowly learning that when I get stuck (as I did with this one) that if I think about this in that transition zone from wakefullness and sleep that my brain can sometimes work on it while sleeping.
. . . can't solve the problem? Just take a snooze

Thanks Nigel for the encouragement; really appreciate it.
Regarding panning. I have never been able to get any panning to work, so everything (I belive) is centered. FWIW, I export the BiaB tracks in MP3 format and then drag them into Studio One. Then in Studio One I create a recording track and real-time record my bass and/or keyboard while the BiaB tracks are playing. I then adjust the volumes of the tracks. If I try to pan any track in Studio One it doesn't work. I then export the mixdown as an MP3 file. Somewhere in this chain is my Tascam 208i Interface with it's own software that needs to be configured for "computer" or "input". I probably need to seek tech support at Studio One to get to the bottom of it. But thanks for the suggestion.

Bass Thumper and Nigel, there is an option to raise or lower the octave of the piano or any other instrument"

Mario, you and BiaB never cease to amaze me. This is exactly what I thought I needed to brighten up the piano. Many thanks for taking the time to create and post your sreenshot solution . . . me happy

Smooth sound, I like the arrangement and the choice of instruments. I don't know if an instrumental piece can convey the message of a "love song" well, vocals would certainly help here.
To answer your question (which I also had a few moons ago), no, you can't go up an octave. When I need to, I either import the Paino's MIDI data into my DAW and transpose there, or I play it there all by itself.
Edit: I'm talking about RealTracks. MIDI-tracks can of course be transposed inside BIAB.
Hi Steve Your song sounds really good Especially your bass ;-) And if you plan to work with synth vocals you can get a lot more out of your songs. What I don't like is the count in at the beginning of the song. But that is a matter of taste Good work Steve Many Christmas greetings Andi ;-)
Love the strong bass, and the chord changes really bring out an engaging melody. This is that cool tune they play in the movie when the loving couple drive high along a coast of beauty. It becomes a recurring theme for all the special moments in their life. What a wonderful mix with so much to enjoy. Well done, Steve.
Enjoy whatever happens! marty

I'm a hopeless romantic too. You hit the mark with a romantic instrumental. I can definitely hear this as a backdrop for a cinematic scene of a couple in love. Excellent!
Smooth sound, I like the arrangement and the choice of instruments.
Many thanks for the kind words.
Per suggestions here, I made a re-mix; see the edits in the original post.

Thanks Marty, in addition to a pro musician you'd make a great movie director. Hollywood needs you on speed-dial
