Tried https://basicpitch.spotify.com to put the sung scale from top to bottom and Melodyne gave me the highest note correctly as c#4 and BasicPitch gave it as c#5 which is an octave higher. I'm not a theory expert, so maybe I don't know that notes for singing are written an octave higher than they are. I sang the scale without preparation and intonation slightly off, without the help of any instrument. And so Melodyne estimated my notes fairly well up to g1 (I was 23 cents above the note). This note played to me as f#2 in the midi file from the BasicPitch application. Other notes below G1 Melodyne and BasicPitch gave me a level, although I went down even further, but to excuse the aforementioned applications, the quality of my singing was getting worse and worse. If I'm using a deep tone like that in a song, I have to learn to sing it in the best quality I can. Then Melodyne will maybe give it an octave or two octaves higher, which I will correct, but what will determine exactly how many cents I am off intonation. Other applications I have tried are worse off, but they still have admiration from me and I believe that in time it will be at the desired level that I dream of. Otherwise, you can see that I like to play.

BasicPitch is free and worth every cent. Not ready for prime time, IMO.
Although I own Melodyne Studio, it is sometimes the worst pitch editor I have but often it's the best. Zynaptiq, ZTX, PureDSP, IRCAM TS2, and a couple others all have their places depending on the source material. Source material makes a huge difference in what works best or worst.

Greetings Gause Zdenek, I haven't seen a post from you in some time. Good to see you in the forum once more.
Regarding your comment about Melodyne labeling the highest note as c#4 and Basic Pitch labeling the same note as c#5. The reason maybe as simple as the MIDI standard does not specify which octave is the middle C octave. The standard just states middle C = note 60. For example, two major keyboard manufacturers, Roland and Yamaha, define middle C differently in their documentation. One designates C3 and the other C4.
Software developers also get to choose which octave to designate as middle C.
Source material makes a huge difference in what works best or worst.
Yes, I like different pitch changers for different sources too. For editing vocals I have used Melodyne for years, and it is great, but recently I was trying ReVoice Pro and it does a few things for vocals that Melodyne cannot. The most interesting is that when you lengthen or shorten the duration of a note in Melodyne you get a faster or slower vibrato, but in Revoice Pro it keeps the vibrato at the same rate (incredibly it re-writes the vibrato according to the original, so the note can go on forever and have a natural vibrato.) I think this is the only program that can do this, so that is great for any instrument (voice, trumpet, sax, etc.) that may or may not have vibrato and needs lengthening of notes. Of course Revoice also aligns a stack of vocals so the timing is tight - and it can align all pitches or timing to one reference track, so it is a different tool to Melodyne, but occasionally the best tool.
Thanks Jim for a very complete explanation and easy to understand. I have been registered with PGMUSIC since January 2005 and I mostly just read the posts and that is what Google translator allows me, because my English is not good and at the time when I was only relying on the dictionary, I was afraid that my English would not be understood. When I write a post today, I solve it by translating it into English and translating what is in English back into Czech, and where it is less understandable, I use a different way of expression in Czech until the back translation is acceptable to me. Otherwise, I have a finished song that I can't put on SoundCloud yet, because I didn't compose the song, but I translated the text into Czech and converted it into a song with Czech text. I don't want to have a financial stake in the song, just put it on SoundCloud. Although I already have permission from the European sub-publisher, the main publisher from Canada has so far written to me that he has a lot to do and I have to wait. I've been waiting for three months. This is the song "Far over the Misty Mountains cold" by Peter Hollens sung together with Tim Foust. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yb2HR47npEU The completely original authors are the authors of the songs in the movie "The Lord of the Rings". I really liked the song and wanted to see what I could make of it. With the help of our musical friend Verunka, we found out the notes of the vocals( It's accapella ). I created an accompaniment using RealBand and finished it in Studio One and sang in the studio "3bees" and spent 6 hours with a great singing teacher. I don't reach the level of Peter Hellens and Tim Foust, but I have gained experience and I already have the basis of the accompaniment for my new song with sound without singing yet, because I also need a singing teacher for my song, and we are so halfway ...

AutoTune has something similar as does ZTX and PureDSP.

Although Melodyne Essential can't, that is the major feature of Melodyne Studio. DAWs that incorporate ZTX (DP, PT and others) do this as well. Then there's VocAlign but, like Revoice, that's a SyncroArts app.

There is one more application that has a different focus than Melodyne at the link - https://hitnmix.com/remix-software/ and it might be more suitable for your work than Melodyne. At the same time, the cheapest version of Ripx - DeepRemix, which costs 85 euros, would be enough for you, but it is good to wait for the time when it offers a discount. This cheapest version can separate singing with backing vocals from the audio recording into one track and into other tracks of the bass guitar and even into three tracks of drums (separates the kick drum, other drums and percussion). The last track is for the other instruments and is labeled as guitar. If there are string and brass instruments, he sometimes separates them from the guitar (piano) and calls the track violin. You can create other empty tracks and transfer notes from others already filled with notes to them, but still in the form of audio (the display is similar to Melodyne, which displays and plays notes in audio, but the display is similar to the display of midi notes in "piano roll ". In Deep Remix there is a similar wav "piano roll" (as well as in Melodyne - here only a monochrome display in poly mode), but in Deep Remix the notes are distinguished for the instruments by color and only one track with a separate instrument can be displayed - solos or mutating other instruments. It can do a lot, but I would write for hours. The conversion to midi is not better than Melodyne, but if the instrument track was cleaned of false notes (not intonationally - more like extra notes), then the conversion to midi would could have improved a lot and it's certainly great that I can separate the instrument from the audio and play it separately and pick it up with my ears. Otherwise, the more expensive version of Deep Create allows you to add your instrument or your voice to the recording or for select instrument that you choose in the application to write your notes and it adds them as audio. And Deep Audio is the most expensive, includes both cheaper versions and can do other new operations, such as cleaning recordings and improving and improving the quality of played notes and much more.

There is one more interesting application, Decoda (it costs 49 euros) from Zplane (a German company) - link https://products.zplane.de/products/decoda/. It analyzes the recording (key, tempo, etc.). However, there is a unique function that allows the user to determine by ear the observed notes of one instrument (vocal) and write them in the desktop with the possibility to play them together with the recording, and here you can set the ratio of the volume of the recording and your notes during playback (notes are played by different sounding an instrument that is recognizable from the recording). Notes written in this way can be exported to a midi file. The key and tempo are defined in the desktop, but the user can change it and thus prepare a midi file for export. DeCoda has the main function, it recognizes the chords for the whole song and much more. It should be noted that this is only an aid to the user and a lot of work is left to the user. We live in a world where technology is developing amazingly in a lot of musical miracles, and it is the PGMUSIC products - Band in a box, RealBand and Power Tracks Audio, which stand in the first row - at least for me.

I have a couple clients who work from click tracks and prepare for others who need a MIDI track to tie everything.
For kicks, I decided to see what happens when I generate a MIDI track from a click in BasicPitch. Guess what? BasicPitch cannot do this. It generates that there are no melody notes—which is correct. I tried it with simple percussion and beat box patterns that I sometimes get. Same result.
Hopefully, a later version PF BasicPitch will correct this major shortcoming.
I’ve been converting click to MIDI for years and have been using Melodyne Studio so I was just seeing if it could be done more quickly. Now that Digital Performer has integrated Melodyne, I can do that I need in a few seconds. David Das's video in converting Audio to MIDI in DP 11.2 is pretty good.

That's really cool stuff Mike! I've been using Melodyne to convert recorded drum tracks to MIDI for quite a while too. The MIDI can then be used to supplement or replace bad drum parts.
Pro Tools is my DAW of choice and they have also recently integrated Melodyne into it too. Haven't tried it yet.
Band-in-a-Box 2026 Video: AI Stems & Notes - split polyphonic audio into instruments and transcribe
This video demonstrates how to use the new AI-Notes feature together with the AI-Stems splitter, allowing you to select an audio file and have it separated into individual stems while transcribing each one to its own MIDI track. AI-Notes converts polyphonic audio—either full mixes or individual instruments—into MIDI that you can view in notation or play back instantly.
