One of my recurring resolutions is to devote more time to music and specifically to stay involved in these forums, but I always fall far short.

If I manage to actually finish and share a song, which happens maybe once a year, I’m active for a short while - I love reading the comments and getting that feedback - but then I’m gone again. I may drop by from time to time, and be utterly amazed at the number of good songs people are recording and producing, but then it’s off to work, or play, or whatever it is that’s taking up my time.

About a year ago, I met a young woman who plays fiddle very well, and now she and I are preparing to play some local gigs. For the past couple of months all my musical time has been focused on learning new songs, practicing, and generally figuring out how the heck to fill 2 or 3 hours with decent acoustic music. Our first gig, a tune-up if you will, is going to be a house concert here at home, and I bounce between excitement and terror at the prospect.

The people in these forums have been so good to me, helping me, helping others, sharing their time and talent, almost like a ministry.

I just wanted to say thanks for putting up with me and wish you all a very Happy New Year!

Scott
