Question: cette fonctionnalité existe-t-elle encore?

Question: est-ce encore possible?

cordialement

Not sure where to start, but translation seems to be a good place to get some help (with Google's assistance):
---------------------

hello everyone, and of course, all the best for 2023! :-))

it's a small series of concerns about Band-in-a-Box that brings me here.
This is why I ask you to excuse the length of this message in advance, while thanking you for your patience!

I knew Band-in-a-Box well. Very well even.
I used this extraordinary software for a long time, in the past, until 2008, when I switched to Mac, getting the version that had just been released at the time, a very average experience...

Now, back on PC (phew!), I am preparing to acquire the current version of
Band-in-a-Box, which brings me to some important questions:

A) In the past, when I bought software (including Biab), it was on CD, and I installed it myself.
It seems that, these days, we buy this kind of things "online"...why not?
Only here, I have a project:

To bring up, very soon, a second config, very powerful, which I will reserve exclusively for music (which is my job) and for all the programs I need.
I will therefore install Band-in-a-Box there, after which I will delete it from my current computer, where it will only be in transit, in short.
But in the meantime, I do need Band-in-a-Box on my present bike, even if this one is not enough...

Hence this first question:
What do we buy, in the case of Biab? Do we buy the installer, or do we necessarily have it "installed online", which suits me much less...?

Indeed, I don't want to have to buy it a second time and start all over again when I have my new config'...

B) My current PC is 64 bits and my next configuration will be too, of course. I don't think it's a problem, but just in case, I ask you the question, probably useless: Is there a version of Biab that can run in 64 bits?

C) On the versions I knew until 2004, I could make my own accompaniment style, by clicking on a two-color icon called "STY",
and from there create my own style by borrowing, for example, the "bass" of one of the pre-existing styles, the "drums" of another, the "piano" of another, etc, etc...

Question: does this feature still exist?

D) On earlier versions, I could write a score, by clicking on an icon showing 2 black eighth notes on a green background, simple and effective writing,
the right click allowing essential adjustments to make things sound acceptably.

Question: is it still possible?

E) Last concern: in a menu (I don't know which one, but I'll find it, I'm sure), there was a feature called "Master tuning",
by which I could, in a way, tune Band-in-a-Box like one does any musical instrument, by sounding an "A" in concert, then raising it or lowering it as I wanted. Practical, very practical.

Question: Can it still be on the current version? I suppose this has to do with the quality of the sound card, but hey...

Last word: Real Tracks and that sort of thing is not a priority for me right now. I'll definitely look into it later, though.

And There you go!

It only remains for me to thank you again for your patience,
and wish you all the best for 2023 again!

cordially

je vais essayer d'aider:

A): Vous pouvez passer d'un ancien Mac à un PC.
L'option est sur cette page :
https://www.pgmusic.com/bbwin.packages.htm

B : Band in a Box est désormais définitivement compatible 64 bits.

C : Vous pouvez toujours créer vos propres styles.

https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=postlist&Board=15&page=1

--------------------

English:
I will try to help:

A): You can cross grade from earlier Mac to PC.
The option is on this page:
https://www.pgmusic.com/bbwin.packages.htm

The download has an installer which you run, and you can install on up to three computers that are used by you.

B: Band in a Box is now definitely 64 bits capable.

C: You can still create your own Styles.

D: Creating your own score is still possible. There may be improvements also.

E: Master tuning. I don't use this, but I'm confident that it has not been removed. Others will know more.

(I hope this helps a little)

There is also a French BiaB page here:

Addendum:

A) You can install on up to three PCs at any time, though it is not permitted to run more than one copy at a time. If you need to move BiaB from one machine tio a new machine, you should de-activate the old copy first.

E) Yes, Master Tuning is still part of BiaB.

Generally, PG Music tries very hard to maintain compatibility and features across versions, though there are some complication where the Mac version is concerned. If BiaB used to do something in the past, it probably does something similar now.

Hello AudioTrack!

cordialement

Alceste's response (with Google's help again):
Hello AudioTrack!

a big thank you for your answers, clear and methodical as I hoped, and which reassure me perfectly!

I always coupled, in the past, Band-in-a-Box with other programs, for reasons of quality of final "rendering", for the occasions which I had to make hear my compositions and arrangements,
but frankly, for the clarinetist that I am,
Biab remains a model of support and work program,
by taking the trouble to discover its riches!

So, thank you again, and see you soon on this same forum, I think,

cordially

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
