When I render the song, the wav files are written to a directory I haven't used since last year - nowhere near or related to the current song directory.
Example...
My song is saved at E:\bb\Songs\Default
when I render this song the rendered files go to
C:\Users\xxx\Documents\Projects\BIAB\Song in A\Song In A-SavedTracks

Don Don, This is not right! You can set the location to any parent directory your want and the rendered files will go into time/date subfolder within that parent directory. What DAW are you using? I am on Reaper and it works exactly as claimed.
