David and Rachel Radio 2.01.23: New Release_WHEN IT RAINS
"They Don't Want Nothing But the Hits, so that's all we're writing."
TM

Hey Y'all,

Here is the latest offering from Rachel and David. We are recording her singing on a bold new tune tomorrow, so that should be ready for next week.

As is our new custom, links to our recently released stuff will be in our weekly updates just for convenience and to eliminate the clutter.

smile

This week’s offering is WHEN IT RAINS. Rachel and I have settled into a really fun rhythm of pure collaboration in terms of idea creation, lyric contribution, song creation, and on the fly modifications. It is a blast. We are having a lot of fun.

WHEN IT RAINS

By Rachel Cintula and David Snyder

V1

Your friends all shine like neon lights,
Out late nights, they don’t seem that bright
Compared to the lightning we were making
and that’s the home you’re now forsaking
But honey I tried to tell you, they’ll eat you alive and leave you
I know because I’ve seen, this world you chose to love is mean

CH

And I gave you all I had to give
Even freedom from the life we lived
I sheltered you from life’s stormy weather
But now that you are free,
Don’t come crying to me,
About your lovers and your pain
And how you wish we hadn’t changed
Yeah don’t come crying to me
When it rains
When it rains
When it rains

V2

You want to be out seeing the sites,
Big invites, climbing to new heights
But I’m no longer waiting,
can’t force your clouded heart into staying

CH

Cause I gave you all I had to give
Even freedom from the life we lived
And I sheltered you from life’s stormy weather
Now that you are free,
Don’t come crying to me,
About your lovers and your pain
And how you wish we hadn’t changed
Yeah don’t come crying to me
When it rains

BR

I’m not going to live with vengeance
Over your washed out heart
I’m going to take a stand against it
So get used to your new start

CH

Cause I gave you all I had to give
Even freedom from the life we lived
And I sheltered you from life’s stormy weather
So now that you are free,
Don’t come crying to me,
About your lovers and your pain
How you wished we hadn’t changed
No don’t come crying to me
When it rains
When it rains

Rachel and David, you have another winner in this one.

Great lyrics. I heard a touch of Dylan in these lines
"Don’t come crying to me,
About your lovers and your pain
How you wished we hadn’t changed
No don’t come crying to me
When it rains". Loved that chorus!

Super vocal and mix.

You two are fantastic together. You collaborate on great lyrics and music plus you both are great singers. I am green with envy!

Hi David. Another top contender with those classic cryptic lyrics.
Very Catchy chorus.
Another great one, my friend. All the best. Rob4580

Great writing in this David. You've got some masterful lines in there. The sound seems off to me in the production though. I don't know how to explain it, but I've listened to it in headphones and speakers, twice each and it keeps happening. The volume keeps varying in waves or pulsating somehow. Maybe something isn't right in my download?

Excellent write and performance!

You two work well together, and there is nothing better than finding a like minded individual to collaborate with in my book, it's what makes it fun.

Looking forward to hearing your new one with Rachel doing the vocal.

Nice!

Nice one. This has the feel of 1960's Bob Dylan in several different aspects.

This is superb in every way. Not much else to say, except CONGRATULATIONS to the both of you. I agree with everyone who said there are shades of Dylan here. You are an authentic musician, David, and it shows in every note you sing. And, in Rachel, it seems you've found a truly worthy collaborator. Bravi, the both of you - truly and fully deserved.

This is pretty cool stuff you and Rachel put out.

Good song, good lyrics, good vocal performance... there's nothing to complain about.

As for the mix, the "wandering" organ drives me nuts. I'd try to find a similar organ, but without the Leslie, because the organ itself works pretty well for the song.

Rachel and I are having a blast. It is unbelievable having a writing partner who is writing at her linguistic level and speed.

Rain - cool collab...a lot of Dylan references in the delivery of course.
Good narrative too.
How will you keep the edit option alive on the OP of this thread? That will determine the success of the fresh page on the same page concept.

Cheers

Hi David ...

I'm late to thje party ... really sick for quite a while. (Better now).

Gotta agree with the various Dylan references. I like the infelctions in your vocal - classic to ther 60s. Nicely written and perfortmed! best to you ...

Thank you for sharing all that fun with us, David & Rachel. Excellent lyrics, and I always like your vocals, David. This is such a good write. You guys are really good at this collab thing. Instrumentation and mix is perfect. Okay. I'll be back to say this again next week.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Thanks Brad,

Yes it is the B-3. I didn't really notice it until you pointed it out.

Oh well.

It is great to learn about this stuff with the drafts so you can fix before the release.

Thanks!

What is the forum for anyway, right??

Well David your not to old to play Bob in his life story apart from the pre-puberty years.
I look forward to seeing that happen.
