Ive been programing a lot of cover tunes where I sing the melody and as far as singing it the melody is memorized...I just forget the words sometimes. Ive resorted to just putting in a "dummy" melody track with just one pitch so that I can enter the lyrics.(did I mention Im really lazy:) ...then I found a file online where there are lyrics but no melody....anybody know how to do this?

All you need to do is to MUTE the Melody Track, the Notation for which is desirable to ensure the Lyrics are correctly positioned. If you don't need the Melody at all the just delete the Notes using Edit > Cut and the Data Filter.

I use internet .kar files for this and i just allow the screen to scroll the lyrics, and i either mute the melody track, or lower the volume so i can barely hear it. Sometime it helps to nail the first note, for a challenged mind like mine.

Jeff,
You need a melody track to enter lyrics. You have the right idea though. Take a keyboard and start BIAB recording to the melody track and sort of just tap on a single note in rhythm to the melody. You can also use the computer keybord in the same way.In RB and you can do the same here in PT I use the comments screen for lyrics.
