I don't know if we could call this a rule, but a have noticed people are more receptive to graphics that do not take up the whole screen. 900 is borderline. On my browser though it's quite likely a webserver behaviour, images above a certain size get shrunk to fit the forum page and I have to open the image in a new tab to get the full-sized version. Whether or not I do that depends on several things.
Jazz relative beginner, starting at a much older age than was helpful.
