Lonely Dreams

I will let the listeners write what they hear in this one.

BiaB style = Space Mellow Guitar - converted to MIDI
Tempo = 65 BPM

I deleted the guitar, drums, and bass tracks
Piano - EZKeys - Dream Machine - preset-MK Dreams
Strings - Phoenix Mirage - preset - smoothest choir2
Utility chord track - Phoenix Mirage - preset - old school strings
Drums - GrooveMonkee MIDI loops - Steven Slate SSD-5 preset Jazzy Jerry
Note I modified all four tracks to better fit the song.

Me - Squire P-bass, guitar, and via my MIDI keyboard controller - Kontakt - Whiskey Series - preset - Honky Tonk Harmonica

Whenever I get something stuck in the back of my throat, I dislodge it by drinking a beer.
It's called the Heineken Maneuver.

Mario,

You are the king of otherworldly sounds... Love the sound and feel of this tune. The reverb is some of the best I have heard here.

Excellent!

Hey Mario...the title fits this piece very well...the dreamy synths in the pad are very relaxing...some of your movements seem non-melodic in nature and that's exactly how dreams seem to go...not sticking to conventional thought...love the sound of the harmonica...cool piece!

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Hi Mario,

You are really very broad oriented!
I wrote that before and promptly you started singing...
Then I wrote it again
And promptly you started dreaming this cool instrumental for us...

What will you do when I write it again?
Almost famous!!!

Thanx Bob. That reverb is Raum from Native Instruments. I got it when it was offered to NI customers for free. IMHO it is well worth the $49 USD price tag.

David, this Embertone - Honkytonk Harmonica is the best blues harp I have ever heard. Note that you will need the full version of Kontakt to run it.

Thanx Floyd. Thanx for that bass remark. Although I am basically a guitarist I do like to dabble with the bass.

Really nice Captain,
This "dream" is somewhere between the open range out West and halfway to the center of the Milky Way.
Great harmonica and strings, very soothing.

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

Mario—

Another really well done instrumental. You have a talent for coming up with titles to your instrumentals . . . they really capture the vibe of what you’ve put together. Excellent production elements on here. As Floyd noted, that bass line works really well. Love the guitar solo—contrasting so that it really pops. Good work!

All my best to you,

Deej

I hear:

Title: "Redwoods"

Verse 1:

A lonely man sits around a campfire
in the redwood forest,
The stars twinkle above and an owl sings like it's lost
He takes out a cigarette and starts to roll it,
Thinking about a girl, and how much his life has cost

Chorus:

Maybe he should leave California
before too long
Maybe one day he'll get out a guitar
and write that girl a song

Verse 2:

And he takes out his harmonica case
and starts to play,
As the cracking fire shows every line on his face
As he remembers her sweet love and her embrace
Thinking that in forty years, no one ever took her place

Chorus:

Maybe he should leave California
before too long
Maybe one day he'll get out a guitar
and write that girl a song

Verse 3:

The fire is burning low and the embers glow,
He takes one last drag of his cigarette smoke
then he stares up at the stars,
Wishing he could turn back time and have her in his arms.

Chorus:

Maybe he should leave California
before too long
Maybe one day he'll get out a guitar
and write that girl a song
Maybe one day he'll get out a guitar
and write that girl a song
a lonely Redwoods song

Yeah
Try that man.

Mario,

Really I was just trying to be funny.

But I found that style you were using.

Let me work out a verse and chorus and send you back the sgu and the vocals wav.

It could be fun.

smile

It might be slightly different but fun to mess with.
