Puns only work when there is a strong cultural/linguistic commonality between the teller and the receiver.
If you weren't watching/listening/reading about the prepunk music of NY from 76 to 80 you'd have Buckley's Chance, (another pun misunderstood by most Australians), of catching them. Sorry.
I used to use a couple of puns, (visual or written), to start the school day in the 2010-16 era.
It help illustrate the bias of the language & it's use PLUS working them out /explaining them expanded the vocabulary of everyone involved.
It's something kids from eight to twelve lapped up.
There's an additional "pun" based Led Zeppelin playing behind the last Dazed & (still) confused line:the actual vid is of them performing that song in C1970.
