Good morning everyone....

A couple months back the phrase "save us" came to me.
Figured I could come up with a subject to reflect the imagery of the phrase.
This is the end result.
Thanks to Ken for his contribution and stellar musicianship.

Thank you all for giving it a listen and the kind words.
Yeah....it was cool to find a funk style that fit my lyrical phrasing and what I was hearing in my head.

TBH....I didn't now if this one would be received well.
But, as hard as song writing is and knowing my material isn't at all mainstream, we keep doing what we like to do and interact with those of like interests and have the same rhythm section backup band.

The funk vibe works well. It brought to mind the initial fun and excitement followed by the terror in the frigid waters.

Yeah, I like the funky feel to this one. Good mix and Ken does a great job on the guitar work. Has a live bar band feel to it . . . which I like a lot. Hard not to have a foot tapping listening to this. Well done!

A good driving funk song, Wayne, and Ken, your guitar is at the helm. You guys definitely don't need saving. You're swimming along brilliantly in your musician-ship. I'm with Bass Thumper standing on the deck waving goodbye to the women and children while I enjoy the band.

Yeah....that's how I select topics to all of my drivel.
Some catchy or cryptic phrase pops into my head and I'll try to run with it.
The subject does put one in a pensive mood so writing about this tragic event in an abbreviated lyrical form was a challenge.

I wasn't sure the 'funk' style would work for this topic even though I liked it right away.

Yeah....I had the same images come to my mind too.
Unfortunately, they didn't have nearly enough 'life boats'.
Lots of imagery to draw from on this topic.

I really wasn't sure this one would be received well or not.
I wanted to convey the extreme drama of the event.
I did have to do my research for this one and employ the bullet points.
IE: the Mr. Phillips rude smugness in ignoring the warning from the Californian.

I thought I'd be on page (4) by now so thank you all for giving it a spin and the generous comments.

Guess I need to await a new phrase to trigger a new topic.

you and Ken make a really strong team. Neat collaboration in all respects. Sometimes all it takes is a phrase. Funky goodness.
Overall very good mix, but vocals could stand out just a little more upfront. Enjoyed it.

The busy funk of the bass is often lost in the mix.
That's okay though as when it pops out it's an accent for the song.
The white funk rhythm guitars are very cool.

Dark and icy lyrics of the historical subject, the title is strong and the cry for help theme works surprisingly well with the fast paced funk approach, giving that rush and hustle effect.
I really like the groove with the Tower Of Power feel. That bass plays magically. The guitar solo is excellent.

I get that a lot re: the vox thing.

Rayc....I'll listen re: your comment when I revisit it.
It surprised me also that the 'funk' style worked well.

Janne....it was a challenge to express the right bullet points.
What lyrical imagery would best suit the story in an abbreviated 3:00 song?
Probably lots of ways to express this horrific historical event.
