The PG Music Ultra PAK external hard drive is 500 GB and is a little more than half full. The empty space can be used for storage. However, it is a good practice to leave about 15 - 20% of space empty for Windows to use for file management.
I would create two folders on the external hard drive, one to store program updates throughout the year and one for song projects.
I generally create a song project folder on the Windows desktop. Everything associated with the song project is stored in the song project folder. Once the song is complete you could move the song project folder from the Windows desktop to the song folder of the external hard drive.
