That there is plenty of space on the USB drive for your song files, has been answered.

In my opinion, there is no such thing as a 'proper' method. We all probably do it somewhat differently, and no one is wrong as long as it works for them and they don't lose their files. In that sense, this isn't a tech question at all. It's a choice of how you organize things.

I save my song files in many places, including a computer off-site and a travelling USB drive.

Interestingly, one place I would NOT store my BIAB music song files is on the Windows 'Music' folder of the boot drive. Three reasons: 1) there is enough other stuff that Windows programs are going to stick there, 2) I like all my files of a specific type in a specific folder, so I can back up just those files easily, and 3) I don't store user files on the boot drive, in case I have to reinstall Windows or replace the boot drive.
